Flying Finish

This is another bad design which features the author’s name larger than the title.  Again, it’s a brown and muddy cover, but that’s not te main problem.  As I read the book, I kept looking at the cover, wondering, what the hell is that thing in the middle?  And why is it floating in the air with a doll, a plane and a gun?

After reading about half the book and Dick Francis’ wikipedia page I dicovered he’s a former jockey and he only writes mysteries about jockeys and that thing is not a weird parachute like I first thought, but a rigin helmet.  The book’s not bad, though I’m not planning on reading another one by him, but the cover is super crappy.  No credit is given or taken for it.

A later edition got this strange cover of wheat fields and a farmhouse.

Strange because most of the story takes place on airplanes or in airports.  The rest of the scenes are in London or at racetracks.  At least it’s comprehensible to the eye, though.
